I first announced back in May that I had begun shooting my new show, Curb Appeal: The Block. We’re currently continuing to shoot episodes and, so far, working on the series has been a really unique experience! What I’ve enjoyed about working on this show is that the nature of it is so much more realistic than other home improvement and renovation programs. Curb Appeal showcases the personalities of both the homeowners and my team as we interact and work together. The show really makes a point to highlight the entire process of undertaking complex renovation projects (arguments, laughter, tears and all)!

The first episode premiered on January 1st and future episodes will continue to air every Saturday at 9:30PM EST on HGTV, with reruns playing at various times throughout the week. Click here for a sneak peak at what you can look forward to seeing on the episode airing this Saturday, January 16th.

Thanks for tuning in to Curb Appeal!

As I announced in a previous post, I launched my Atlanta-based company, Wade Taylor, LLC, last year. I am excited to announce that we’ve decided to expand our portfolio of services to include several options for clients in addition to unique design and build. To  reflect the diverse range of services we offer, we decided to change our name to Wade Works!

Wade Works is happy to provide the following services:

  • Unique Design & Build
  • Design Consulting
  • Home Inspections
  • Home Staging

We’ve had a fantastic time so far working with clients on a number of projects, including building out custom model homes and providing design consulting. We’re eager to take on more projects, so click on “Contact Chip” if you’re interested in learning more about any of our services!

I’ve been staying very busy lately with a variety of exciting new projects! Recently, I began providing education seminars for real estate agents at industry associations across the nation. The topics I focus on include green building and design, as well as accounting structure and other financial topics that affect realtors, such as renovation financing and tax ramifications associated with new housing laws.

In today’s economic climate it is essential for realtors to stay abreast of the latest tools of the trade and best practices. I am happy to share my knowledge and do what I can to help realtors succeed in this demanding marketplace!

Although this particular seminar series is focused on realty, I am available to speak on topics ranging from home improvement to building, design and more. If you’re interested in bringing me in to speak at an event for your organization, click on “Contact Chip” for appearance and scheduling inquiries.

chip-wade-in-workshop1I started building my dream custom fabrication workshop in September of 2008 and I reported the status of my progress on it back in the spring of last year. I’ve been working hard on it since then and I am so happy to announce that it is finally all decked out and ready to roll!

It’s great to have my own place, just a stone’s throw from my house, where I can focus on creating custom pieces. Here are some candid pictures taken of me hard at work (and play) in my newly completed man cave, er, workshop! I have a feeling I’ll be spending a lot of my time in 2010 in here.

I hope you’ve been keeping a close eye on the SmartStrand Challenge presented by Mohawk & DuPont like I have. This demonstration is now over a week in and Ricko the rhino has not been taking it easy on his SmartStrand at all! Mohawk just sent over this video, an exclusive update on the Challenge straight from the Rhino Encounter at the Birmingham Zoo:

I’m glad to see that Ricko is thoroughly enjoying his SmartStrand and the enclosure that I designed for him. I think he’s giving Mohawk exactly what they signed up for- reckless abandon from the ultimate 12-year-old! And while it’s wonderful that Ricko is having a great time, it leads me to one question: How does Mohawk plan on cleaning this up? (They never really told me how they plan to do that; I hope I’m not part of the clean-up committee…)

The SmartStrand Challenge is being broadcast LIVE this very minute on webcams at: http://www.smartstrandchallenge.com/see.html . Make sure that you follow along for all of Ricko’s adventures and the resolution of the SmartStrand Challenge. This is going to be interesting…
